(a) A member with child-care responsibilities who are away from his or her unit for the same period of time as the birth or adoption may take and apply for a child custody award. (b) A member with baby-care responsibilities who are absent from his or her unit for 10 days in a calendar year shall be granted 2 weeks of leave, to begin on week 11 of the following calendar year and to end on week 25 of the ensuing year.
